Ishmeet Singh represents a youthful soul that, with sheer dedication and hard work, transformed his inner realization – that intriguingly instructed him to sing. This intense motivation was conceived by Ishmeet Singh by the time he was studying in his 1st year of B. Com. at Government College of Boys, Ludhiana. When he decided to follow his inner voice and got focused on becoming what we know him today “ the international super star“ in the field of performing music.
The persons who trained him in basics of music were none other than his father S. Gurpinder Singh and his uncle Dr. Charan Kamal Singh – latter himself being a post-graduate in Vocal Music. Along with Ishmeet Singh, the other member of the family that got groomed into music was first cousin of Ishmeet Singh – Gurleen Kaur.
Ishmeet Singh was also trained in classical vocal music by Principal Sukhwant Singh of Jawaddi Taksal and by Mr. Aashim Nagpal nurtured him with requisite technology equipped musical guidance. Mrs. Radhika Jaitwani, a noted art promoter, got his talent spotted by promoting him in the singing reality shows.
In addition to music, Ishmeet Singh inherited the cultural values that he verily imbibed in his humble, simple and sincere way of life from his grand father S Inder Singh Sodhi, Advocate and the values of humility from his mother Amritpal Kaur. Since his birth on 2nd September 1988, his elder sister Sumeet Kaur bestowed all love and affection on her younger brother and assisted him in his all requirements for preparation for vocal music. He pursued his studies up to B Com Part II.
Ishmeet Singh was an all rounder throughout his career. He was very good in studies, while he was also the head boy of his alma mater viz. Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana. He was a loner, hard worker, and focused. He never frittered away his time and was always focused at his goal “ the goal of becoming a singer par excellence” !
Ishmeet Singh maintained his humility and decency even after gaining stardom at the inter-national level. He used to help anybody who would approach him.
In addition to music, it, in fact, was his personality and behavior that made him a real star in the hearts and minds of people from all walks of life – all around the world.
Tragic demise of Ishmeet Singh on 29th July 2008 has left enumerable people of all ages in a state of shock. The unprecedented love and concern that flowed from the hearts of smallest of small kids to eldest of the elderly and in various families throughout the world has made everyone ponder about the kind of soul, whom we know as “ Ishmeet Singh”.
The musical lineage of the family of Ishmeet Singh is being pursued by first cousin of Ishmeet Singh – Gurleen Kaur – now known in her artistic name “Sargam”.
